Durable, seamless surfaces built for the way the space gets used

Epoxy turns a dusty slab into a hard, sealed surface you can hose off. Veteran Flooring installs epoxy coatings in garages, basements, workshops, warehouses and commercial floors across Greater St. Louis, and every system we put down resists stains, impacts, chemicals and abrasion. Hot tires, dropped tools, road salt in February, an oil leak that sat all winter - none of it soaks into a finished epoxy floor the way it soaks into bare concrete.

Because the finish is seamless, there are no grout lines or plank seams for dirt to collect in. A push broom and an occasional mop is the whole maintenance routine. For spaces where a resilient floor makes more sense than a coating, our commercial flooring page covers the alternatives, and our crew installs both.

Prep is the job - the coating is the easy part

Epoxy fails when somebody rolls it over a slab that was never prepared. We start with mechanical profiling of the concrete, then handle the cracks, pitting and spalling that are normal in older St. Louis garages before anything is mixed. We test the slab for moisture too, because a basement floor pushing vapor will lift a coating off in sheets no matter how good the product is. That same subfloor discipline is what our demolition and prep work is built on.

Only once the slab reads right do we apply the system: primer, base coat, flake or pigment broadcast where you want it, then the topcoat that carries the wear.

  • Mechanical grinding and profiling of the existing concrete
  • Crack, joint and spall repair before any coating goes down
  • Moisture testing on basement and below-grade slabs
  • Solid color epoxy, decorative flake systems, metallic finishes and high-gloss topcoats
  • Anti-slip additives or textured topcoats where the floor gets wet
  • Owner-led installation from the first grind to the final coat

Where epoxy earns its keep around Greater St. Louis

Attached garages are the most common call. Missouri winters put salt, slush and grit on a garage slab every day from December through March, and a coated floor sheds all of it. Finished basements are next, where epoxy gives a hard, water-tolerant surface that will not be ruined by the sump failing during a spring storm - unlike carpet or laminate. If you want a warmer look down there instead, luxury vinyl plank is the usual alternative and we will price both.

On the commercial side we coat workshops, mechanic bays, breweries, salons, storage areas and back-of-house spaces. We laid the epoxy floor at the Florissant VFW, a job that is exactly the kind of high-traffic room these systems are made for.

What the schedule looks like

Most residential garages are a one to two day job, prep included. Light foot traffic can go back on the floor after about 24 hours, and vehicles after roughly 72, depending on which system you choose and how cold the space is. We tell you the real timeline up front and put it in the written quote along with one price - the same way we handle every flooring installation we take on. Epoxy flooring pricing in Greater St. Louis

Priced per square foot after we look at the slab, because prep is what moves the number. These are the ranges most projects land in.

OptionTypical priceNotes
Solid color epoxy coating$4 - $7 / sq ftPrimer, base and clear topcoat on a sound slab
Decorative flake system$6 - $10 / sq ftFull or partial broadcast with a clear wear coat
Metallic epoxy finish$9 - $14 / sq ftShowrooms, retail and feature spaces
Crack, joint and spall repair$150 - $900Quoted after we see the concrete
Two-car garage, coated start to finish$2,400 - $4,800Typical finished project in this market

Slabs with heavy oil saturation, active moisture or previous failed coatings need extra prep, and we show you that cost before the work starts rather than after.

Epoxy Flooring - frequently asked questions

It depends on the size and condition of the space, but most residential garage floors are finished in one to two days including surface prep and curing time. Larger commercial areas are staged so you keep part of the space usable while we work.

With proper surface preparation and a quality system, peeling or chipping is rare. The failures people describe are almost always coatings rolled straight onto an unprepared or damp slab. We grind, repair and moisture-test first, and the work carries our one-year labor warranty on top of the manufacturer warranty.

Wait at least 24 hours for light foot traffic and up to 72 hours for vehicle traffic, depending on the coating you select. Cold garages cure slower, so we give you an exact date at the end of the install.

Some finishes can be, but we offer textured topcoats and anti-slip additives that improve traction - worth specifying in garages, basements and any commercial space that sees water or wash-down.

Often yes, once the source is fixed and the slab reads dry on a moisture test. Epoxy is one of the few finishes that shrugs off a future incident. If the slab is still pushing vapor we will tell you and recommend a different approach rather than sell you a coating that will lift. That kind of diagnosis is part of our floor repair work too.

Usually, yes. A lot of St. Louis brick homes and mid-county ranches have red or white oak strip flooring sitting under old carpet. We pull up a corner, see how much wood is left above the nails, and sand with dust containment equipment. Before we commit to a color we test stains on your own floor, because oak in your light does not look like a sample in our showroom.
We do. We finance through Hearth and Synchrony, and you can apply before you pick a material so you know your budget while you shop. The application takes a few minutes and approval does not obligate you to anything. Call (314) 897-4383 and we will send you the link.
Our labor comes with a one-year workmanship warranty, and the flooring itself carries the manufacturer warranty that comes with the product you choose. If something is not sitting right, call the office or email veteranflooringstl@gmail.com and we will come look at it. Coming back to make it right is part of the job, not a favor.
