Split-levels around Teson Road and Hazelwood West are built for carpet. Bedrooms sit over other living space, and soft flooring keeps sound from carrying down through the joists into the family room below. Bedrooms in these houses are also small and often over an unheated corner, and carpet with a decent pad simply feels better underfoot on a January morning than anything hard does.
